Pop-Up Café & Bar
Café & Bar Auckland International Airport (NZ) 2017 The Pop Up Cafe & Bar is a 66.5sqM area that Auckland airport wanted Emirates Leisure Retail to provide a cafe /bar offering for 9 months whilst they completed upgrades to the terminal. The project had a limited budget of $100,000, and design from concept to full documentation had to be completed within 4 weeks. I completed the full design as well as worked with a graphic designer to creative direct the brand name and identity that assisted to create a presence in the final interior design. To design to budget I sourced local companies that could hire equipment and furniture. The key timber material used was Hoop pine ply, chosen due to cost, but also that its natural edging provided a feature. Colourful vinyl strips where placed on the counter front to add colour and a modern touch, and powder coated press metal sheeting was used to clad the rear wall to look like cafe subway tiles.
