St.George CBB + IBB offices
New office design, Liverpool and Newcastle NSW 2010 In 2010 St.George was expanding their group of Corporate / Institutional Business Banking offices to 2 key locations in NSW, Newcastle and Liverpool. Designing to a tight budget, and having to re-use some of the existing furniture, the brief was to create a collaborative/structured working environment, with modern aesthetics to provide a fresh light interior for the high profiled clients. On arrival, you are met with an inviting (yet condensed) waiting area, with a brand logo on feature timber panelling surrounded by soft halo lighting. This waiting area needed to be connected to the key meeting, interview and conference rooms without walking through workstations, allowing bankers to walk their clients straight into a consultation area. As this was completed before the agile workplace design boom, 20-25 dedicated workstations had to be included, as well as a centralised stationary admin hub that was positioned in the centre of all workstations/main thoroughfare, in addition to this multiple lockable filing cabinets and storage cupboards had to be included to store sensitive material. Finally, a breakout space offering separation from the work areas was included, the brief was to provide a social space and sanctuary for the staff, to achieve this, timber and Baresque acrylic wall panelling was used to demarcate the area, along with feature lights, wall murals and high and low tables. Colour highlights of orange were used in the IBB office at Liverpool, a warm modern addition to the St.George brand red, whereas the CBB office in Newcastle due to its coastal location, had lime green highlights as the feature colour, a modern nod to the vibrant green in St.George’s Happy dragon logo.
